Links Pages
Exchanging links with similar sites to your own can have a great benefit to increasing your link popularity. Search engines use this as a way of ranking your site when someone does a search.
Whether you use the Links Pages, or the the Links Directory, Step One will remain the same for both.
Step One - for both Links Pages and Links Directory
- Right-click the banner you need to save. Select 'Save Picture As' and save it to your computer.
- Log in to your Store Manager, and go to 'File & Picture Utilities'. Click on 'Product Pictures' in Upload Utilities.
- Find the banner that is on your computer by clicking on 'Browse'. Once you find the image, click on it, and then click the 'Open' button. Then click the 'Upload' button. It will now be in your site's files.
- Under Picture Utilties, click on 'Main Listing'. Find the banner that you want to use, and click on the image.
- This should then display your image/banner in a new smaller window. In Internet Explorer, right-click on the image, and this time select 'Properties'. Copy the Address URL. If you are using Firefox, right-click on the image and select Copy Image URL. You can leave this window open if you wish.
TIP: if you know the name of the banner once you have saved it to your site, the url will be: http://www.YOURSITE.com/fpdb/images/IMAGE.jpg . Replace YOURSITE with your own domain name, and replace IMAGE with the name of the image. You may even need to change 'jpg' to 'gif' if necessary.
Step Two - for Links Pages(click here for the Link Directory)
This is where you actually add the banner to the Links Pages. So in your Store Manager, click on 'Configuration'. Look over to the right under 'Master Store Mode', and find and click on the link that says 'Links Pages Admin'.
The first page here will list any banners in your Links Pages. If this is your first time here, it will only have the link set up for Primmart. At the bottom of this list, you will see a link for 'Add New Link'. Click this. The next page will look like this:
If you leave it as it is, then the only fields that will be required for you to add to would be ' Name' and ' Site URL' - so you don't even have to add a banner. The choice is yours. - Name - this is where you add the name of the site that you are linking to(not your own site).
- Site URL - this is where you add the URL of the site you are linking to(not your own site)
- Description - add a short description of the site you are linking to
- Banner URL - this is the Address URL that you copied in the first step.
- Leave Outhits as it is
- Firstordering - use to add order to your banners as you add them
TIP: to set up the first link as your own so other's will know what to do to link to your site: - for Name - enter the name of YOUR site
- for Site URL - enter YOUR site's URL
- for Description - enter instructions for a link exchange. For example, you may want to say "If you would like to exchange links, please save my banner to your own server. Add my link, and then contact me to let me know so I can add yours!"
- for Banner URL - add YOUR own site's banner URL. You still follow step one to find the URL.
- for Firstordering - use an extremely high number and it will remain at the top.
